U-tarou : The impact.
Music is the impact of emotion against the chrono trigger.

The music can change people's feeling.
For me, the music's meaning is communication to the people.
I also have been moved from a lot of musics.
And I want to feel impact myself against my created music.
The first of all, it's the important thing.
I first should feel it....

The music of BAAL is the huge monster which is made of the energy of our soul.
And which I feel is solid and avant-garde.
It is mutation by strength and beauty.

BAAL isn't negative power.

But sometimes there is music born from anger and sadness too.
The music is changing into strange energy, when discharged of my pent-up
emotions.

I really love our music very much and think that the coolest.
Therefore I pour fierce energy to BAAL. It is myself.
When it become the impact to you if my soul is strong more than anything.

And, it's the dawn of the new area!

A lot of industrial musicians get their musical influences from noises and
sounds around them. Sounds from machines, or sounds out of our normal lives
like broken glasses or animals. Where do you get your influences from?

U-tarou : First, music of BAAL is Mikito itself .
And the lyrics of BAAL is myself.

Because I make the lyrics and a melody mainly. . .
A song is a musical instrument of mind, too.

I love the natural world, and I sometimes go to the sea.
I've been surfing for ten years or more.
And the excitement and the tension at a big wave draw out adrenaline and the
endorphin to me.
It seems like the same state when I'm doing music....
I think,,,, both of them is be pervaded by a unusually tense atmosphere..
The sound of nature sometimes can be feeling uneasy and is scary.
Voice of life. Forces of nature. ｡
The sound of BAAL associates the earth tremor or the volcano.

Influence from other artist is big if I say that a good sound of a feeling influences
it for oneself.
For example, I love the world of a perfect circle and love a dance beat of Rob
zombie and love power of expression of a song of Mansson and then want to
all put it together! Into the one song.(I'm greedy!)

But when I was looking for my really favorite music, and there was not still machine
parts as now, and all anyone did not yet have recording machine parts either. .
We sampled a sound by ourselves.
I recorded my voice with the loudspeaker instead of the distortion, and effector
of the guitar use to vocals.
And use to sound of chain saw...and so on. That was so amusing!
Of course, I'm enjoying now more than before with music!

The personal computer has the sound that has already been made and a lot of
beats now, you know?

If you use them for the first time about making a music.
I think, I feel like awful about it..
The thing of having already been made is the one that is not my sound.

Though it is an age as for the age. ｡
Anyway, the sounds are most first in our heads.

Industrial music is often aggressive, noisy and loud. Does this describe
your character? Or are you romantic persons who look and sound only
non-romantic?

U-tarou : In fact ,I'm a romantic so I am in this music world, aren't you?
I do not think that there is an artist of not romantic.
All starts of the art start from what I request and the ideal.

In the stage in BAAL and the power of expression of the song, I think
that my character come out.
I never don't feel succumb to men's bands there or thereabouts.
I love the strong sound and the person who feels strong vitality.
...strong vitality.. withers there an extreme sound and the quiet
sound.

It will be able to be said that it is aggressive.

But,I'm not aggressive from usually.
However, the thing with favorite things that are better-looking(cool) than
lovely things is certain.
I also like tattooing. I have 3 tattoos in my body.
I've got the scorpion in my stomach, the phoenix in my back, and the dragon
in my arm.
I also will increase another one of these days.

I want to get it is the celestial nymph who has "HAN-NYA's" mind.

What are your lyrics about?

U-tarou : Human's "Desire" and "Despair".
Human repeats this two through life.
And, it shadows it to human through life.
Everyone have it, haven't it? I also have it too.
Both "Desire" and "Despair" are necessary. The mind collapses and rots when
either of one side is lacked.
They're very different but very similar at the same time.
love-hate, hope-fear, live-die, good-evil...and so on.

Of course, passion is also necessary.
I love thing felt with the living body.
In this contemporary society, there are a lot of guys who run away
from a complicated question thing.
The world covered with excuses and the rotted world.

I also have rotten things in my world that why I write the lyrics.
But, it is my lyrics that comes out from me, it understands enough. ..
I can say that I never runs away from me.
If I run away from myself...
The wreck is control you..( "Wreckage" from BAAL)

The performing things might be the only method of showing my living figure.
I can learn a lot from those things.

How did you come into the Goth-industrial scene?

U-tarou : I met the Rock for the first time in my life when I was 13.
I hide from my parents and I was watching TV at home around midnight....
Just a television program was an overseas Rock!
The band was AXEL of GN'R.
His staging was so aggressive! Shouting, rampaging on the stage,,,,
He really drove me wild! My blood was excited!
So He was a god of first Rock for me.
I wanted to become like him when I was kid.
I was really crazy about the Rock(now too..)
The life rail is changing in a matter of seconds....I think it's a great things.
Anyway, I made the band for the first time when I was 13 and played.
I'm doing the band from then on. I changed the band about 10 bands??

HARD CORE, PUNK, and the mixture rock came out of the music scene in the
underground in Japan when I was in my middle teens.
Naturally, I was alive there, too.
Actually, I was already meeting in that time with Mikito of the leader of BAAL.
We were acting by the same scene each other.
My band was dissolved for about five years ago , and Mikito was looking for
the vocalist of woman at that time. He was already in the world of industrial
and was continuing the composition activity.
At that time, he was playing the guitar in the band named "Chapter".
However, he wanted to establish his own band. Then, He met interviewer to
his own band. It was 50 people or more. ｡｡
Of course I proposed that my singing at his band.

My shout voice of the first reason why he had appointed me was good. ..
haha!(I understand it!)
Various music was taught from him. NIN, Manson, Rob zombi, ministry, TOOL,
ATR, , and a lot.
A perfect circle is my favorite artist now!

I did so and was enchanted to the world of industrial music by him.

First, industrial event "JUNKCHILDREN by BSL" was started up with Rieu of
BAAL and Despair in Japan last September.

We want to expand this industrial event to all over the world.
A lot of people came to Junk Childlen, and they were so addicted in there!
There is the world of the industrial Rock that we think about there.
We want to hold in the world sometime.
Keep Roking!!

Japanese people seem to be very interested in new technical things and in
technologie. Is this good for musicians - good for creating new sounds?

U-tarou :I think that the current world is only a technology that Japan
developed.
But, isn't the technology unrelated to music?
Will it is not a technology but will a sense that causes a new sound?

If it doesn't have the sense no matter how a personal computer and
professional tools
are used, it is the one like excrement.

The technology is unrelated to the musician.

Industrial musicians often live in big cities with an industrial area around
them. Do you think people from the big cities are better industrial
musicians than people from the country side? Is industrial music about the
modern citizens life in a big city?

U-tarou : I think that the place in which it was born and the place where it
lives are unrelated.
If it is a good environment for me, the place is unrelated.
I hate person garbage not significant.

I am cool because stimulation can be made from my and my friend even
in case of being for a long time in the house.
It is a misunderstanding that the large city thinks of some
stimulation in.
It is all but impossible to become a friend with the guy who does the club
commuting every evening.
If you love really though it is another.

Gothic music is much about darkness, mystic and about old stories from the
past. Does one of these things influence your style?

U-tarou : I do not know the Gothic too much well.
However, I learnt a classic ballet for a long time.
It was great and liked it by me. The ballet music, the dance, the stage with
outlooks on the world, and clothes also.
If it influenced my current style, it might be a ballet.
Classics are the classics music of the West, and birthplaces of the ballet.
I danced a lot. Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, and Spain or Sleeping Beauty
( I didn't dance this Sleeping Beauty because I broke my leg!!) it was Don
Quixote, and Coppelia.
...wanting buy up clothes when it rises to wealth... Especially, clothes of
Don Quixote's Prima donna.

Why do industrial / electro bands and gothic musicians fit good together?
Industrial and electro are very modern styles and gothic is much about the
past and about dark romantic feelings. This seems to stand in opposition
together?

U-tarou : Music and the art to shake the world are wonderful, and it is
succeeded as such for a long time in the age at that time.
I think that it is not the opposite world at all in such a meaning.
If the one thought to be good is combined, it becomes more wonderful.

When I look at films or animees from Japan, I often see very modern cities
but also a cold society. The people seem to have nearly everything. The
technologie rules, but true emotions are missing. Is this a problem of the
modern western world, is your music about this modern worlds problems?

U-tarou : Japan is good the public peace, and peacefully grows senile more
terribly than
another country.

Nobody has patriotism so much to our regret.
It thinks by the person the person who knows Japan well in the age
when the war was experienced.

Now,
There are a lot of guys of indifference in the dream and zeal!!
There are a lot of really foolish crimes.
It really becomes tired and it becomes sad when it is enclosed by
such a guy and it lives....

I feel live when I'm singing, doing my favorite things, environing with my great
friends, taking matters seriously.
However, a person really serious to something is a little.

You come over to Europe in autumn this year. What do you await here? What is
your imagination of Europe or germany?

U-tarou : Germany becomes the first overseas tour for us.
Definitely, it will be memory for us and everyone!!. It is really the enjoyment
now!!!

We were going to fight with the world when we made the BAAL. Of course now
too!!(and in future too!)
There are a lot of people who are actually hearing BAAL in the world
now.
And, everyone will be able to feel the world of BAAL by the life in the autumn of
this year.
I'm so happy if our fans are pleasured!
